We began the serious task of selecting new horses for our breeding program at Hawkhill Miniatures in 2011. We went in search of miniatures that were refined, had excellent conformation, a mix of new and old bloodlines, and were of show quality. This included some that already had success in the show ring or we considered terrific show, halter, or driving prospects. To this we have introduced Shetlands from top breeding lines to improve the herd.
We started our mini show horse selection with Ravenwood Chasin Dreams after the 2011 World Show. I came back to the 2013 Worlds looking for stallions. How lucky could we be to have SRF Premier, a 7 X World Champion and 2 X Res. World Grand Champion ( Son of SRF Nobility) join our breeding program. With this outstanding stallion, we felt we had perfect sire for our smaller miniature broodmare band. Since then we have added Mini Persuasions LM Hawks Saddlebum (Son of Champion Farms Nighthawk) for the taller miniature mares. To this herd, we have recently added Whispering Hills Jess Unique, ( Son of Jesse James of Rivenburgh). The final stallion added is Vermilyea Farms Rock the Dice, a Shetland with some of the same pedigree as Hershey Bar. Thanks to Merv and Barb Mardian we were given the priviledge of owning both "Jess Unique" and "Rock the Dice". All of these stallions have produced very correct, beautiful, show quality foals.
We now have a number of top quality broodmares, some have been show horses, and have outstanding pedigrees that include top bloodlines and are top producers of horses today. As well, we added four Shetland blend mares out of Vermilyea Farms Hershey Sugar Daddy. Again Merv and Barb Mardian allowed us to have those boodmares from "Sugar Daddy". Together, it is expected that these broodmares will produce sound, refined and beautiful foals for the show ring, driving, and/or breeding programs.
Keep an eye on us for show prospects, breeding stock, or maybe just a companion pet. We know we can assist you with a horse(s) that meets your needs. If you see something of interest, have any questions, or simply like talking about miniature horses, feel free to send an e-mail, or give us a call.
